"Grateful
Children Project"
|
|
|
Why
the "Grateful Children" Project? |
|
O |
Because
society is changing so fast. People in society are affected
by the media which have the greatest influence in persuading
them to become slaves of consumerism. |
|
O |
Because
the Thai society is composed of more and more single-headed
family causing relationship problems within members of the family. |
|
O |
Because
most of the elderly are forgotten by members of the family who
sometimes look at the elderly as a burden and obstacle making
the elderly look invaluable and unimportant. |
What
is the objective of this project? |
|
Main
objective |
|
O |
To
revive the Thai society's beautiful value of respecting the
elderly |
|
O |
To
give encouragement to the elderly |
|
O |
To
encourage children of the family to love and respect the elderly
of the family |
|
Secondary
objective |
|
O |
To
make a positive impact on others who do not care for the elderly
of the family |
|
O |
To
elxpand this project to the vicinity communities |
|
O |
To
make it a continuing project at the CBCT and the diocesan level |
How
to achieve the goal? |
|
O |
Begin
at the parish with the elderly by having the committee select
the children who are grateful toward their parents and grand
parents. |
|
O |
The
parish committee can design their own criterial for selecting
the candidate, while at the diocesan level the diocesan committee
should be responsible for the selection. At the national level,
however, the selection committee should compose of representatives
from the various dioceses. |
|
O |
The
award ceremony at the parish level it can be done during the
water festival (Song Kran) as it is a good Thai culture. At
the diocesan level it could be done during the feast of St.Joachim
and St.Anna. At the national level it could be done during the
feast of the Holy Family. |
|
O |
The
award ceremony should be organized by each parish in accordance
with suitability and local situations. |
|
O |
Other
than the award there should also be a certificate at all levels:
parish, diocesan and national. |
Where
should the budget come from? |
|
O |
At
the parish level: Coordinate with the parish priest for cash
or request financial support from some parish faithful. Party
food can be contributed by each participating family within
the parish. |
|
O |
At
the diocesan level: Some diocese may have a pastoral section
for the elderly where the diocese can be responsible for the
financial support. |
|
O |
At
the national level: The responsible commission for the elderly
should set up the budget and prepare the project to receive
funding support accordingly. |
